Yorkshire Masters Success

The second annual Yorkshire Masters competition was held in Hull over the weekend of 31st August and 1st September at the Allam Sports Centre.

Three categories were catered for +40M, +50M and +40W with teams entering from across the country as well as from Ireland and Holland.

FIMBA GB were well represented with +35W players Sally Dee (IDK); Kelly Simcox, Lisa Greenaway and Rebecca Brindley (Swish Sisters – who finished as runners up); +40W Bryony Lowe (Europe United), Gabby Navickaite; JoJo Glowa, Lisa Stocks; Vilma Jurgaityte (IDK) and +50W Jackie Rees (IDK). On the Men’s side, +50/55M players Jerry Hanss turned out for Aberdeen, Gary Poole represented Yorkshire Old Boys with John Dixon running with the Yorkshire Stretchers while the eventual winners, the Hull Hornets, included Stuart Bush, Phil Jebb, Andy England, John Green and Dave Spindley among their ranks.

A tough final group game saw the Hornets battle against the Midland Ballers in a winner take all encounter. The Hornets led the game for all but one possession and remained in control throughout finishing eventual tournament winners with a 38-33 win. Both teams finished with a 3-1 record, Hornets winning by virtue of the head to head.
