Thank you to our Support Staff

As we prepare to enter the World Championships for the first time, sending 10 teams, we want to say a big thank you to all our volunteer coaches, team managers, physios and support staff.

In these final weeks, whilst the players are working on their fitness, getting their final shots up and working hard to make themselves and their teams better, there is a whole world behind the scenes that no-one sees. A group of volunteer support staff, coaches, managers, physios and captains that make huge sacrifices throughout the year to make everyone and everything better. A group with a vision, sympathy, honesty, empathy, friendship and love for the team. A group who give up family time, deal with the issues and take the criticism. The frequent phone calls, planning, setbacks and organisation and yet they always have a smile on their faces to support the team.

To the volunteer Coaches, who spend hours planning training sessions, watching game tapes, analysing stats, scouting opposition, drawing up scenarios, providing individual feedback, selecting the teams, supporting their players with off court issues, taking every loss hard and yet motivating their teams to bounce back – thank you.

To the volunteer Team Managers, who find and book the training venues, deal with competition entries, arrange flights, transfers, accommodation and rooming lists; collate medical details, carry out concussion protocols, ensure the first aid kit is full, manage the finances, arrange partnerships and kits, manage the social media and website reports. At the competitions, they have to register the team, deal with the organisers, ensure water is at all venues, arrange meetings, find laundrettes, organise food and dinner reservations, making sure the players and coaches only have to concentrate on their teams – thank you.

The volunteer physios and support staff who are always available to discuss fitness goals, suggest exercises, help with injuries and rehab and even help out with childcare at training – thank you.

FIMBA GB is entirely run by volunteers; the committee, the coaches, the team managers, the physios and the support staff do all this for the love of the game and their team, so to all our support staff – on behalf of all the players – thank you for being part of the #fimbagbfamily, thank you for your sacrifices, thank you for volunteering – you are a big part of what makes us such a successful organisation on and off the court and an organisation that is fast becoming the envy of the Masters community worldwide.
