New Coaching Team for o55W

The o55 Women’s team had their first session with their new coaching team at the weekend, taking to the court in Oxford.

Head Coach Adrian Moult and Assistant Coach Stu Coffey have recently been appointed to the roles and the two day camp was a great opportunity for them to get to know the players and start to work towards the European Championships in Malaga next summer.

On Saturday, the team were led by a guest in Coach Mac (o40 Men’s Head Coach). Following a warm-up and stretching routine from Assistant Coach Stu, Coach Mac worked on defensive transitions and focused on using the tall, athletic players on the offensive end.

Following another good warmup from Assistant Coach Stu on Sunday, Coach Adrian got his first look at his team and started to lay down the offensive sets he believed would suit the talented group. The plays harnessed the strengths and experience of the team, whilst offering several scoring options to work around.

o55 Women’s Captain, Helen Mailloux commented, “We had a great weekend of training in Oxford. It was wonderful that we got to meet and train with our new Coach Adrian Moult and Assistant Coach Stu Coffey, as well as a brilliant session with Coach Mac on Saturday. We are so grateful to all three of them for their enthusiasm, encouragement and guidance and we are really excited about our next training sessions in the New Year with them.”

Squad member, Maria Endacott-Heser added, “The weekend was a really beneficial one and helped enormously in furthering our knowledge of each others’ styles and fortés. Coach Stu has provided us with some Christmas break homework, and we are looking forward to regrouping the entire squad in January when the team for Malaga 2022 will be announced.”
