Malaga 2022 officially re-launched

Following a two year postponement, FIMBA are pleased to re-launch the XI FIMBA Maxibasketball European Championship that will be held in Malaga from June 24th to July 3rd 2022.

The tournament, which should have been held on similar dates in 2020, will be held in various sports halls in the 2020 European Capital of Sport, Malaga and the surrounding municipalities of Fuengirola and Cartama, with over 100 teams already registered.

For the first time in it’s history, the event will be an “Open” event, with participation from numerous Non-European Teams, representing all continents of the globe, who will compete for medals in the “Rest of the World” classification. In recognition, a new logo has been produced to highlight the cultural significance of Malaga and the relationship between basketball, the city and the sea.

The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 25th, with all finals and the medal ceremony a week later on Sunday 3rd July.

FIMBA GB will be sending 16 men’s and women’s teams across the various age groups (o30-065W / o35-o80M), that are currently at the final selection phase – for more details on the teams, click here.
