Coach Mac is excited to announce the inclusion of Big Man John Jowers to the FIMBA GB o40 Men’s Wolfpack.
6’7 Centre, John, is another product of the famous Brixton Topcats programme and is another international talent added to the already stacked FIMBA GB o40 Men’s team, having played for England and GB Universities teams. In the year 2000, John moved stateside to attend NCAA Division 2 side, Clayton State University, where he led the team in rebounds in the first season, starting 70% of the games.
Upon joining the team, John commented, “the game has given me so much over the years so it’s a joy to think about another chance to play at this level. I’m sure for most of us at this stage of life, opportunities like this one are only getting fewer and farther between. For me, it will be a real treat to suit up with teammates from 20+ years ago and represent our country. I hope we can do ourselves proud, but also show the rest of Europe how hard we can compete.”
Coach Mac added, “Well we have put the word on many social media channels that we needed some height and have our reward. John is well known to the team: he played with Shaun and Marcus at Brixton and with Marlin as Clayton State. An athletic 6’7 he adds rebounding, interior defence and a slasher on offense. We feel he is a great fit and are delighted to add him to our Malaga squad.”
John will meet up with his teammates online this week, before joining them at their next session.
