The GB Masters +65 Women have officially taken another step forward with their very first dedicated training session, marking an important milestone for GB Masters Basketball.
Although there were a few key players missing the session brought together players with a shared enthusiasm for continuing to compete, develop and represent Great Britain at Masters level. It was a positive and energetic start to what we hope will become an exciting journey for the team.
A special thank you goes to Doug, our Strength & Conditioning Coach, who got the session underway with an excellent warm-up. His guidance helped the players prepare properly for the demands of the session, with a focus on movement, mobility and getting the body ready for basketball.
The basketball session was led by Coach Sussi Maguire, whose experience and enthusiasm provided an excellent foundation for the group. Sussi worked with the players on skills, movement and team development, with plenty of energy and encouragement throughout the session.
Sussi was assisted by Nicky Shaw, who supported the session and helped ensure that the players got the most from their first training opportunity together.
For GB Masters Basketball, the creation of a +65 Women’s team is another important development in our commitment to providing opportunities for players across the Masters age groups. Masters basketball is about continuing to play the game we love, staying active, challenging ourselves and, importantly, enjoying being part of a team.
This first session is just the beginning. There is plenty to build on, but the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the players provided an excellent starting point.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, and particularly to Doug, Sussi and Nicky for helping make the first GB Masters +65 Women’s training session a success.
Head Coach Sussi said
“It was fantastic to see the GB Masters +65 Women come together for their first training session. There was a real sense of enthusiasm and commitment from the group, and it was great to see everyone getting stuck in. This is the beginning of something really positive, and I’m looking forward to seeing the team develop, both individually and collectively, as we move forward.”
