FIMBA GB win 2 medals at the FIMBA at Home Competition.
November saw the first edition of a brand new, live initiative to bring FIMBA Maxiballers together from all over the world to compete against each other in a variety of ballhandling skills, called FIMBA at Home.
Teams were comprised of 3 players, organised into age categories. The countries that were represented included Spain, U.A.E., Japan, Russia, Serbia, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Columbia, Argentina, Costa Rica and G.B. amongst many others.
The contestants invited us into their homes/ outdoor courts/ and even workplace car
parks as they filmed themselves on live steam performing 3 pre-set drills, and the judges marked them on a variety of criteria. This broadcast was then live-streamed to thousands of viewers from all over the world.
We are immensely proud to report that our Men’s over 40’s team (Mark Jackson, Anton Fraser and Tarryn Algar) won GOLD in a hard fought battle amongst stiff opposition. The team brought their ‘A’ game, and wowed the online crowd with
their dexterity.
Our wonderful Women’s over 35’s team (Anna Smith, Becks Palou and Michelle Tattersall) won BRONZE in an exceedingly competitive age group. They showed true determination and prowess in all of their heats. Team FIMBA GB certainly made their mark on this inaugural competition. It was amazing to experience the thrill and excitement of the competition with so many FIMBA Maxibasketball enthusiasts, experiencing summertime in the Southern Hemisphere, to winter in the north Well done all – and thanks to all our FIMBA GB family who supported our teams.
