FIMBA GB are excited to confirm the o50 Women’s team which will take part in the XI European Championships in Malaga 2022.
Head Coach Mal Gander commented, “The return to basketball from lockdown has been an incredible journey for all of us; so amazing to see the dedication shown by the players to their own fitness and wellbeing, as well as revising the theoretical side to our strategy and team concepts. Coming into 2022 it’s time now to really challenge this team and I know they are ready for it. We have pieced together a group of individuals who are clearly passionate about their basketball, who understand the unselfish team concept and strive to get better as a unit each time we step on court. It’s hard not to be excited about what this team can achieve going forward, with their continued hard work and commitment.”
Coach Gander will be aided by Assistant Coaches, Andy Stock and Phil Gander.

Captain Lynda Alderson and Vice Captain Hazel Shaw added, “As we head into the new year our team is growing from strength to strength both in our playing ability and our relationship with each other on and off the court. Everyone has shown real commitment to the team already, travelling large distances to training sessions and making themselves available for matches and tournaments. We look forward to training hard over the next few months as we intend playing our hearts out when we get to Malaga and being a real contender for a medal “
