Early selections for the +55 Men

FIMBA GB +55 Men Head Coach, Des Williams has started naming his team for the European Championships in Pesaro, Italy next summer.

With the 2024 FIMBA European Championships just around the corner, the core squad has been selected and the intensity of the training sessions stepped up. Those not yet selected have been given areas to focus on and so it’s still all to play for to compete for those last few slots!

FIMBA GB +55 Captain, Terry Rose, will lead his team into the Championships and his front court is looking BIG with highly experienced centre 6’8” Dave Spindley joined by 7’0” Simon Gregory, who will be flying in from Vancouver for training sessions and the Championships. With the rebounding and shot blocking machine 6’7 Stuart Bush and 6’6” Jari Pakkanen completing the front court rotation, the +55 Men has enough size to compete.

The back court has Terry Rose and Pete Milne, both played well in the ESBA tournament in June and cemented their place for Italy. Jerry Hanss, who can play Guard or Forward also played well and fits the system very well alongside Steve Claringbould who is the hidden gem in a fast breaking guard rotation.

No decisions have been made on the Point Guard and the other two positions and we are inviting trialists still, so the competition for those places will be intense. I am talking to a number of experienced guards with experience in the run and gun game and a very tall centre and so the prospects for the team are looking good for the Championships.
