The April camp delivered a well-structured and high-tempo programme, with clear progress shown across both offensive and defensive phases as the weekend developed.
Offensively, the group worked extensively through Fast Break, Wheel, and Horns concepts. Across the sessions, repetition led to noticeable improvement in spacing, timing, and decision-making. By the latter stages of camp, players were recognising scoring opportunities more instinctively, and the flow within sets became increasingly natural. The integration of shooting within these actions was effective and should remain a continued focus.
Defensively, the team was introduced to and developed principles within the 2-2-1 zone press and pressure man-to-man. As the camp progressed, there were encouraging signs in how players transitioned between defensive looks and applied pressure. A key takeaway is the importance of consistent vocal communication, particularly within the press, when the team communicated well, the structure was effective; when it dropped, cohesion suffered.
Scrimmage work throughout the camp allowed for practical application of systems in competitive settings. By the end of the weekend, the most positive development was how the group began to put everything together. Team chemistry and cohesion improved significantly, with play becoming more fluid, connected, and automatic on both ends of the floor.
Assistant Coach, Sam Montgomery said “Overall, strong progress has been made. The focus now shifts to consistency, communication, and sharper execution heading into the May camp”.
