+60 Women World Championships Preview

Following a disappointing tournament in Pesaro the +60 Women’s squad has worked really hard in its preparations for the World Championships in Switzerland in June.

The squad brings together a core of returning players from past campaigns with new players experiencing the FIMBA set up for their first season and players moving age categories. The monthly training sessions have been intensive and they hosted a four team tournament in February with a mix of age category teams to test themselves.

The squad has come together very well with a good balance and despite players missing some training sessions due to injury, the coaches Adrian Moult & Sussi Maguire have a positive outlook for the Championships.

Between training sessions players have kept themselves fit playing in various tournaments in smaller groups of the squad to create a great teamwork ethos, and that has been evident in the monthly sessions.

As the +60 Women head into the business end of preparations, they have a final warmup game in May and then a controlled session in June to fine tune before departure to the competition.

This is my 3rd championship and the second with this age category, I feel very privileged to be leading an amazing group of women, and I feel extremely positive that we will perform and ‘leave everything out there’ , in a  competitive age category. We will do ourselves and our country proud
