After lots of detailed preparation and game practice, the FIMBA +55 Women are in now in excellent shape to compete for podium places at this year’s European Championships in Pesaro.
After winning an iron medal at the last European Championships in Malaga 2022, they +55 Women backed it up with a Bronze medal at the recent World Cup in Croatia. In 6 weeks time the team will be heading to Pesaro in Italy, looking to add to their medal haul. The competition looks strong but the +55’s have almost completed their rigorous preparations which will stand them in good stead against some very experienced and well established teams.
New players and lessons learned from last season leave the team well-prepared to compete among the top teams. Organisational changes, more offensive options and a more intensive defensive mindset, alongside empowered players is the heady mix of elements that has resulted in the team’s confidence being high. Much thanks go to our bio-mechanics coach, Martin Haines, for getting the players into the best shape possible over the last 2 years. Bring on the championships and let’s go FIMBA!
Stu Coffey – Head Coach
I’m extremely proud of how the team are performing having been empowered to be creative and flexible with the offences and applying a much tougher defensive approach. Coach Stu and Assistant Coach Ged have worked tirelessly, with a great deal of patience, to get the best out of the team and I’m very excited to see just how far the team can go in bringing back some silverware.
Pam Donnelly – Captain
The final match practice will take place at the Dublin Masters and then a friendly on home soil in Nottingham on 9th June.
