45 Days to go

To mark 45 days until the XII FIMBA European Championships in Pesaro, Italy, the +45 Men’s team give an updated on their team’s progress.

After a disappointing 12th place finish in Malaga, 2 years ago, the +45 Men have been working hard on and off court to put right the wrongs. With a host of International and BBL experience, the team are in a great position to compete for a medal this year.

Firstly, they came up with the name – GB Brotherhood – as a symbol of their tightness as a group of players that continue to work hard for each other. With several players qualifying for the older age categories, the team decided to stay together for Italy with a real sense of unfinished business as well as making some key additions.

Each member of the groups personal growth unites the GB Brotherhood and makes us a formidable collection of ballers and maybe more importantly fantastic human beings. With 45 days to go the excitement for all is palpable and we can’t wait to arrive in Pesaro and represent the country once again.

Drew Barrett – Captain

Perhaps the biggest change over the past couple of years has been the appointment of multi award winning and 2024 Wilson Coach of the Year, Dave Greenaway who brought an identity to the team both offensively and defensively and they will be heading to the Championships unbeaten following several friendly game success’ over the past 12 months.

Our pre tournament preparation has been going extremely well over the past few months with a level of progression that sees our play on court being elevated at every camp. Since taking over the reins as Head Coach, the players have been very welcoming and have shown a great deal of focus and application in implementing new philosophies and style of play. The excellent team cohesion and “Brotherhood” have allowed me the opportunity to hit the ground running, with laser focus, on the on-court adaptation of principles and honing the individual talents we possess as a team. We still have a way to go in achieving our full potential but I am pleased as to where we are in this process and I’m expecting us to be in a position whereby we are playing our best basketball by the first game of the tournament in Pesaro. I am excited to see how this team continues to develop over the next 6 weeks and am looking forward to seeing them showcase the best version of themselves at the tournament.

Dave Greenaway – Head Coach
