Successful weekend for GB Wolfpack

The FIMBA GB o40 Men’s Wolfpack were in Stevenage and enjoyed a successful weekend, winning a friendly on Saturday before continuing their progress in training on Sunday.

Saturday’s match against a very talented local team, including current Division 1 and ex-BBL players, was a good proving ground for the o40 Men in their first game together. Despite some very impressive long-range shooting from their opponents, the FIMBA GB Men ran out comfortable 121-87 winners in the end. Led by Steven Gayle’s 31 points, Roderick Wellington’s 23 points and Jason Wiggan’s 14 points, it was a strong scoring affair across the team showing how many threats this group possesses and the trust they have in each other.

Sunday gave Coach Mac and his team the opportunity to analyse the game and work on where they needed to improve defensively and offensively. The usual openness about individual and team requirements helped the group focus on helping each other improve throughout the session as they continue to get know each other’s strengths on court.

Coach Mac was happy with the weekend performance, “This was our best weekend. Being able to see the team in a competitive game for the first time and then assess the performance and address the issues on Sunday was very useful and productive. By the end of Sunday I really felt we had made proper progress with our offense and defense. Mentally I think we are getting to the right place. Still work to do but a good weekend. As always the guys worked hard and the challenge of getting in sync with one another is starting to be met.”
