+40s FIMBA GB Complete Final Preparation Camp

The GB Forties (+40 Women) completed their final training camp this weekend as preparations continue for the upcoming FIMBA European Championships in Athens later this month.

The two day camp focused on strengthening team cohesion and ensuring players were fully aligned on both ends of the court. On Saturday, Coaches Harrison and Lauder led a series of drills designed to bring the group together, while also addressing individual areas for improvement. Players worked on positioning, footwork and spacing, helping to fine-tune the small details that will make a significant difference in Athens.

Day 2 built on the hard work completed on Saturday and brought in more game scenarios, as the intensity and physicality levels were raised in preparation for the style of basketball they will encounter at the Chanpionship.

It was a tough camp, we asked a lot of the team this weekend and they put a huge amount of effort in over the two days. It’s always difficult when you’re only together once a month, but they weren’t scared to push each other harder and harder both days, expecting more and more of themselves in the process. Massive thanks to our team physio, Kiera, who has got this team to a much better place strength and fitness wise and has ensured we carry no injuries into Athens allowing us to be the best version of ourselves. Im excited to see what we can achieve in what is always the toughest competition.

With preparations now complete, the GB Forties travel to Athens determined to compete at the highest level and continue their recent record of success on the international stage. It’s been an impressive run over the past 3 years, winning four silver medals across World Masters Games and World Cup competitions and whilst proud of those achievements, the squad remains focused, knowing the step up required to compete against the strongest masters teams in international basketball.
