FIMBA GB hosted their first ever transition camp for the +50, +55, +60 and newly formed +65 Women in Birmingham, with a host of current and new players trying out.
As we start our journey towards the FIMBA European Championships in Italy next summer, the camp was an opportunity for eligible players to meet their new age group team and coaches and try out with a view to continuing their journey within FIMBA GB.
With the FIMBA GB Community seeing huge growth in player numbers and age group teams since its inception in 2019, another new category started their journey with the +65 Women becoming the 15th age group team. This is a hugely exciting move for FIMBA GB as they work towards their objectives of facilitating international playing opportunities for Men and Women aged 35-70+.
After a welcome from all four coaching teams, the 4 hour session was broken into warm ups, medium intensity drills, fun games and challenges and age-appropriate scrimmages. The women were moved into their seperate age groups and started learning from the wealth of coaching expierence on offer across the weekend. As always, the whole weekend was highly competitive, but a lot of fun was had by all and the Coaching team are well underway to building on their 3 international medals already won.
The FIMBA GB Transition Camp at Nechells in Birmingham provided a great opportunity for those players with eligibility to move age groups, to work with potential new team mates and coaches. We were delighted to have over 30 players and 7 coaches in attendance, each coach offering a variety of drills and games to entertain and reinforce the important strategies of the organisation. We have received positive and encouraging feedback from the players and a desire to run this type of event again in the future.
