This last weekend saw the FIMBA GB +60 Women’s Ticino squad meet up in Carterton, Oxfordshire for continued preparation for the tournament, which is now just over 50 days away!
The session began with a minutes applause for the recently departed Tony Burke, a stalwart of the basketball family in Ireland and known by many of the players and coaches.
The larger group attended on Saturday with members of the +65 team meeting to prepare for the GB Masters in Cardiff in June and some invited guests. Plenty of shooting drills and work with the ‘BIGS’ on both Saturday and Sunday, with Steve Murray from the +70 Men’s European Champions and the guards being put through their paces with lots of individual drills.
The group was then split to allow the +60 team to review defence and inbound plays before a scrimmage against the other group on the Saturday and again on the Sunday.
The next training session will again be in Carterton on the 24th / 25th May
