The FIMBA GB +60 and +65 Men’s squads returned to their training base of Sheffield for the final sessions of 2024, this time at a new venue of Firth Park Academy.
As a training venue, the extra baskets down the sides of the court gave greater flexibility to Coach Richie to run drills in smaller groups, keeping everyone moving and involved.
Twenty three players attended for the Saturday session, with the numbers of +60 and +65 squad members fairly equally represented. Coach Richie ran drills to instil the team’s offensive options into the minds of the players, followed by shooting drills and ending with five on five scrimmaging between the two squads.
New players continue to come along, and it was great to see Graham Hall and Roger Richardson joining us for the first time. Graham has already signed up for the +60s team to go to the Croatia Worlds in Omis in April.
Sunday saw sixteen players attend the session and continued with re-enforcement of the exercises from Saturday.
Feedback and comments from those attending was positive, the overwhelming consensus being that Coach Richie “runs a good session!!”.
The next weekend event is to be held at Concord Sports Centre, Sheffield on 11th/12th January 2025, with an opportunity to run off the excesses of the previous few weeks. All are welcome to come along.
