+60 & +65 Men join up again

Saturday 22nd March saw the FIMBA GB +60 and 65 Men’s teams join for a combined training session at Concorde Sports Centre in Sheffield.

With coach Richie Rudd unable to attend it was Keith White and Gary Glennard who organised the session.

Players worked hard at all aspects of the training which focused on shooting, transition offence and a special emphasis on team play with the +60’s and +65’s working together in their respective age groups. For most of these players it was the last opportunity to train before the impending World Cup tournament in Croatia.

Sunday saw the +60’s face off against the +65’s in a friendly game at Ponds Forge Leisure Centre in Sheffield. The younger side applied full court pressure from the start forcing some turnovers from the elder squad and soon built up a lead. As the game progressed the +65’s started to handle the pressure better but poor finishing only helped the youngsters to extend their lead to run out comfortable winners at full time. Special mention for probably the games MVP, Peter Klepsh, who scored a game high 32 points for the +60’s.

The feedback from the weekend was great! Everyone enjoyed the format, especially how having a game the day after practice allowed us to put our training into action.
