The +55 Women started their 24/25 campaign with some new faces, drills and offences at RAF Cranwell over the weekend of 14/15th September.
With many faces unavailable for various reasons, new players were able to demonstrate their potential value to the team in the coming season. All enjoyed the training with friends reconnected and a positive vibe felt throughout the weekend. This continues to be a committed basketball team that likes to both work hard and enjoy the social side at the same time! A team that enjoys each others company off court stays the course so this is a good sign for the coming season!
All players enjoyed the new ‘physical benchmarking’ and monitoring introduced at the first session to monitor progress in areas of core stability, speed and agility, explosive power of jump and upper body passing strength. The competitive edges were all getting exposed, which was good to see. These elements will be monitored for improvement through the season to encourage physical conditioning between monthly sessions. The aim is to ensure that the FIMBA GB +55 Women remain one of the fittest teams that compete in their category, to enable a top 4 finish at Ticino 25, following their highly successful 5th from 13 result in Pesaro in June.
With many more expected for the October session, the future squad is looking strong for the coming season. However, if there is other talent that is interested in joining us, they are more than welcome, please complete the registration form by clicking here. The next session is at RAF Cranwell on 12th October from 14:00-17:00 and 13th October from 10:00-13:00.
