The FIMBA GB +50 Women held Northern and Southern trials in the last two weekends of September to ensure all interested players had the opportunity to try out for the squad heading to Italy next summer.
Lincolnshire and Surrey played host to Coach Gander and his enthusiastic group of prospective players that saw many returning from the last campaign, which bought about a 6th place finish at the European Championships in Spain and a Bronze medal at the World Cup in Croatia. Alongside them were new players to the FIMBA family as well as some making the step up from the +40 and +45 teams, which it is always a pleasure to see.
It was really good to see the playing shape and fitness levels following the Summer and it was obvious that basketball was featured! I’m really excited about the prospect of this group, as long as we keep up the hard work.

There will be an additional closed training session in October by invitation only for the players to really get to know one another, before the competitive squad will be announced at the end of the month.
