The FIMBA GB +40 Women had their final camp before the teams for the 2025 season are announced.
After a festive photoshoot and welcome from Coaches Harrison and Lauder, the GB Forties walked through the offensive sets before running high intensity drills focussed on each individual element.
The most pleasing aspect for me was seeing the development of the players. It is clear they have all worked on their feedback from previous camps and were putting it into action on court.
Assistant Coach Lauder
As the drills evolved, defence was added with specific tasks so the players had to react to different scenarios as a group. After sharing feedback and ideas, the first day finished with a very competitive scrimmage.
After a quick debrief from Saturday, the focus for Day 2 switched to defence. Re-emphasising the ethos and structure of the defensive sets, the players were made to work hard as different scenarios were introduced to test the communication, footwork and spacing. After a fun defence reaction drill, Coach Lauder worked on rebounding and boxing out before some shooting drills allowed the coaches to perfect each individual’s technique.
The session again finished with some games, with coaching feedback and comments throughout.
A great session to finish a very successful year for the team. The camaraderie and intensity is great to see and puts us in a great place to achieve our goals in 2025. Back in September, we asked the players to bring the best version of themselves to every session and to not be reserved in the way they play. I am pleased to say every single one of them has done so and they should be very proud of their individual and team performances over the last few camps. On behalf of the GB Forties, we would like to wish our wider FIMBA GB Family and all our family and friends a very Merry Christmas.
The teams for the Masters World Cup in Croatia and FIMBA World Championships in Switzerland will be announced before the next camp on 11/12th January.
