+40 Women continue strong progress

The FIMBA GB +40 Women took to the court, in Nottingham, at the weekend under the continued guidance of new coach, Tony Harrison.

The 3hour Sunday session kicked-off with Coach Harrison giving an overview of his thoughts from the February camp and what his expectations were for the day. A mix of dribbling, rebounding and in-game passing skills were further developed to ensure players were warmed up and ready to go.

These skills were then put into practice as they worked on the various plays and identity the team wants to move forward with. With the core group of players remaining from Malaga, coupled with some +35 & 45 Women, as well as the new additions to the squad, Coach Harrison constantly mixed up the teams to ensure the large squad were all aware of each others strengths. The pleasing aspect being how quickly they got to grips with the expectations and each others’ abilities, regardless of the personnel on court.

I’m so pleased at how quickly we’ve gelled as a team! We’ve introduced a bunch of new players and it’s like we’ve known each other for years. We also have a new coach and it feels like we’ve really turned the corner. Our team roster is finalised for Croatia and we look forward to going to tournaments in Dublin, Norwich, and defending our title in Galway – it’s going to be a busy 2023!

After a very solid, energetic and positive workout, the team left as an even closer group, looking forward to the final training camp in March, before taking the court for the Masters World Cup in Croatia.
