The World Cup winning, +35 Women headed to Birmingham for their final camp before the GB Masters and the FIMBA European Championships this summer.
The camp was a great chance to get the squad together after winning the over +35 Women’s Gold at the Masters Basketball World Cup in Croatia. Coach AJ and the team were able to feedback from the tournament, further develop their team performance and use this in a game against a good local side. Invaluable court time and cohesion ready for the Sheffield Masters to prepare for the big one in Italy.
Great opportunity to work with the main team going to Italy. A great effort by the ladies led us nicely into a game with a local team which was pre-planned helping us to learn from any mistakes. The hard work showed in the game and the plays were executed and the movement looked really good. We will have another get together to cement the structure and philosophies when we go to the Sheffield Masters. I was very pleased with the effort put in by all.

This camp had a great energy about it as it’s the first time we have been together since winning the tournament in Croatia and it will also be last camp before we go to Italy. With the final squad now in place we were able to get some crucial time on the floor together to focus on working together as a cohesive unit. The game was against a mixed local team of men and women, which allowed us to implement what we had practiced earlier in the day. After a strong start we continued the game well with some really great phases of play. This team has such a good connection off the court which is now translating onto the court with more consistency which is great to see and just where we want to be. We are all looking forward to Italy and cant wait to get there !!
