The recently formed FIMBA GB Wheelchair programme was back on court in Liverpool this weekend as they look to continue building for 2026.
Greenbank Sports Academy again hosted the 2nd camp as a mix of age group players all took to the court for a fun and high-tempo session. After a team warmup, Coach Andy Craddock put the players through their paces in various shooting and dribbling drills, focussing on control and vision.
Base line sprints were then brought into the shooting drills, highlighting the importance of keeping form and concentration when tired, before a competitive scrimmage to finish the first part of the session.
During the break, the group discussed plans for 2026, including the opportunity to enter the IMGA Masters Games in Abu Dhabi with various age group 3×3 teams.
Knowing 2026 will bring competitive basketball for the group, there was a distinct step up in quality and intensity as the focus moved to passing, movement off the ball and teamwork before another scrimmage to put it all together.
It was great to have the players back on court and be able to discuss tangible plans for 2026. What was really pleasing to see was the enjoyment and team spirit already building. They are already playing with the FIMBA GB ethos of fun and teamwork. They weren’t forcing their own shots, instead waiting for the right pass and taking the best shots as a team. Despite the mix of playing experience, it was great to watch, we’re already looking forward to the next one!
