The +60s women FIMBA GB team training camp was held on 24th and 25th January at Carterton Leisure Centre in Oxfordshire. Despite reduced attendance due to a small number of injuries and unavoidable family commitments, 10 players were able to attend both days, ensuring continuity across the weekend.
Head Coach Alex Lee, supported by Assistant Coach Steve Murray, delivered two highly structured and well-planned training sessions, with a strong focus on team cohesion, tactical development, and game-specific scenarios. The sessions were well received by all players, with positive feedback on both the intensity and clarity of coaching.
The squad continues to make encouraging progress, with clear improvements in understanding roles, systems, and overall team chemistry. Final squad selection for the Athens tournament will be confirmed following the February tournament in Oxford, which will provide an important opportunity to assess players in a competitive environment.
HC Alex “It was a productive weekend for the +60W squad. Despite a few absences, the players showed great commitment and enthusiasm, and the sessions ran smoothly. I’m very pleased with the progress the team is making, and we’re looking forward to assessing final selections at the February tournament in Oxford.”
