The FIMBA GB Masters 55+ Men came together in Sheffield for an intense and energised weekend of basketball. Attendance was excellent, and the arrival of Coach Jim Claffey set a new tone for focus, professionalism, and purpose.
Over two days, the group worked through high-tempo sessions built around conditioning, tactical structure, and new drills designed to sharpen reactions and rebuild on-court chemistry. The atmosphere was competitive but positive, with players pushing each other while keeping the sessions enjoyable.
The weekend finished with a full scrimmage, complete with refereeing support and match-play feedback. A clear step up in intensity and game realism.
The team is evolving. There’s a new sense of direction, higher expectations, and genuine momentum building ahead of future events. New players are welcome to be part of it and experience the standard being set.
The next training weekend will be held in Lincoln at Deans Sport & Leisure, Monks Road, on Saturday 15 November (12:00–14:00) and Sunday 16 November (09:30–12:00).
“It’s a real honour to be appointed Head Coach of the GB Masters Men’s 55+ team. This group represents experience, passion, and lifelong dedication to the game. I’m looking forward to building a strong, competitive squad that plays with pride and embodies the spirit of GB Masters basketball.” — Jim Claffey
