The Men’s Over 45s squad met in Huntingdon for a highly competitive and spirited training session, held on the same day as the serious incident that occurred on the train network nearby. Despite the unsettling events, the players demonstrated remarkable focus and professionalism throughout the day, maintaining a positive and committed attitude to their preparation for the upcoming tournament in Athens.
Attendance remains strong, with a large group of enthusiastic players continuing to push for selection. The passion and energy within the squad are clear to see, with every player giving their all and making the coaches’ decisions increasingly difficult. Training was intense, with a strong emphasis on conditioning, teamwork, and tactical play — nobody appeared ready to give up their place without a fight.
As the competition for spots increases, the coaching team now faces the challenging task of reducing the squad to a more manageable number for future training sessions. However, this selection process is not the end for those who may miss out at this stage; players will still have opportunities to be involved as the season progresses.
With December now approaching, training will pause for the holiday period before resuming in January. The next few months will be crucial as the team continues its build-up toward the Athens tournament, with confidence high and the squad united in their goal to represent FIMBA GB with pride.
Coach’s Comment – AJ:
“The commitment and energy from the lads in Huntingdon was outstanding, especially given the circumstances on the day. Every single player showed heart, focus, and a real desire to earn their place. It’s never easy having to make cuts, but these are the kind of challenges that push us to be better. We’ll take a short break now for December, come back refreshed in January, and make sure we’re ready to give everything in Athens.”
