o50 Women’s Team – Sheffield camp report

The FIMBA GB o50 Women enjoyed a weekend in Sheffield, training on Saturday before a friendly against a young Sheffield Hatters Division 2 team.

The 3 hour session on Saturday gave Coach Gander another opportunity to ensure the whole team were aligned with the vision and style he wants to play with less than 6 weeks until the XI FIMBA European Championships in Malaga , Spain.

On Sunday, NBL Division 2 team Sheffield Hatters, bolstered by the presence of some young, upcoming Hatters, provided a quick and strong opposition for the FIMBA GB o50 Women. Despite the young Hatters team running out 66-49 winners, both teams were full of smiles after the game and Coach Gander had accomplished a lot of what he set out to do with the team.

FIMBA GB o50 Women’s enjoyed another successful training weekend on May 14th/15th in Sheffield, putting final touches to their offensive and defensive plays in preparation for the Malaga championships in June. Under strong leadership from coaches Mal and Phil Gander, the squad members have grown into a close-knit team, with everyone contributing to an excellent performance in a friendly match on Sunday against a strong (and young!) Sheffield Hatters Division 2 team. Roll on Malaga – we’re ready for you!
