GB Forties finish a successful year

The FIMBA GB +40 & +45 squad had their final camp of 2025 at their home court in Leicester.

It was a fitting end to a successful 2025, which saw the team add World Cup Silver and Bronze medals to their collection as competing in their first ever World Championships, finishing a very respectable 13th.

Coach Harrison started the session with an explanation and reinforcement of the offensive plays and the principles behind them, before walking them through on court. After a warmup with Coach Lauder, the session focussed on various drills that broke different aspects of the plays down to ensure each key part was worked on individually.

As confidence and understanding grew, the drills were expanded to include more players and they built back to the full play execution. Instead of the usual scrimmage to finish, the coaches had 3 groups that practiced the various plays against no defence at one end of the court, before running back to play it against defence.

We introduced a lot in today’s session, so it was really important to break it down and have the whole squad work together. It gave the players a chance to focus on specific movements and actions both on and off the ball.

2026 promises to be a very exciting one for the squad, with a +45 team going to the Masters Games in Abu Dhabi, the +40 team heading back to the World Cup in Croatia with the aim of sending +40 and +45 teams to the European Championships in Greece.
