After a successful 2025 season, picking up a Silver and Bronze at the World Cup, and a first ever entrance into the FIMBA World Championships, the GB Forties have expanded and are working towards the European Championships in Athens, 2026.
This season promises to be the biggest and best yet as the GB Forties will be adding a +45 team for the first time since Malaga 2022 and have some very clear ambitions on what they want to achieve at the Masters World Cup in Croatia and FIMBA European Championships in Greece.
With several players enjoying some Autumn sunshine and winning a Silver medal in Valencia, the session allowed the coaches time to work more on individual needs and build on the read and react concept that runs through the team. After an introduction from Coaches Harrison and Lauder, welcoming the new faces and setting out the expectations for the season, the team went through the warmup and then got into some close out and passing drills.
The team then moved to 3, 4 and 5 man breaks focussing on off the ball work, filling the lanes correctly and communication with their teammates.
Considering there was a mix of old and new faces as well as International to Local League experience, all the players immediately bought in to the competitive and fun ethos of the team. The communication throughout was fantastic and they were all working hard to make each other better.

Part of the feedback from last season was the importance of converting chances, so an intense shooting workout followed with the coaches taking time with each individual player to make small tweaks to ensure a more consistent action and higher success rate.
The last hour was played out in various game situations, with the coaches stopping the action for good and bad to discuss with the team and ensure everyone understood.
Sunday’s session was more of the same as more new faces were welcomed into the FIMBA GB family and the players built on the work they had done the previous day. More time was given to individual feedback and they again played out a very competitive final hour.
I actually think this was one of the best sessions. Following last season’s player feedback we’ve tweaked our approach slightly and they responded really well to it. Having the opportunity to work much closer on the small individual things really helped the team in the scrimmages at the end of both days. The summer cobwebs have been well and truly blown away and we’ve got a really solid foundation to build on in October. Knowing some of the new players coming in and those returning that couldn’t be there this month, I am really excited for the prospects of both teams in 2026
