The GB Masters +55 Women’s team had such a strong response from players wishing to attend the recent Masters tournament in Alassio, Italy, that we entered two teams! The weekend was intended to be a celebration of the 2025/26 season, and it certainly lived up to expectations.
Players were split equally between Team Britvic and Team LV (LV being the Roman numerals for 55 – a name that often prompts a few questions!). It was also the first year the tournament had introduced a +55 Women’s category. Although the number of teams was a little disappointing, both GB Masters teams played some excellent basketball, with the weekend culminating in a final game between the two sides!
A huge thank you to Matt Stone and Ged Donnelly for coaching the teams and helping make the weekend such a success.
Alassio is set in a beautiful part of Italy, and the tournament offers a fantastic combination of competitive basketball, camaraderie and fun. I suspect we may see some familiar faces returning next year!
Meanwhile, preparations for the 2026/27 season are already underway, with +55 Women’s training camps scheduled for 10–11 October and 7–8 November in Coventry.
