Following the successful merger of FIMBA GB and the GB Masters Basketball Association in May 2025, we are proud to announce the next evolution of the organisation with the rebrand to Great Britain Masters Basketball — a refreshed identity that reflects our unified vision and continued commitment to all masters players in Great Britain.
Great Britain Masters Basketball is proud to announce an exciting new chapter in the organisation’s history as it officially unveils its new identity, bringing together both its domestic and international programmes under one unified brand.
Formerly operating as FIMBA GB CIC, the organisation has already begun transitioning to Great Britain Masters Basketball, a name that reflects not only who we are today, but where we are heading tomorrow.
This rebrand represents much more than a change of name. It reflects the remarkable growth of Masters basketball across the United Kingdom and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to creating opportunities for players aged 35 and over to compete, develop lasting friendships and proudly represent Great Britain on both the domestic and international stage.
Today, Great Britain Masters Basketball proudly represents a thriving community of more than 3,000 members, making it one of the largest and fastest-growing Masters basketball organisations in Europe.For many years, two logos represented two important parts of our story, each with its own history, achievements and contribution to the growth of Masters basketball in Great Britain – these now form the foundations to build our new organisation, with One Community, One Organisation, One Future.
The GB Masters Basketball Association represented our home — a thriving community built through our annual tournament, bringing together thousands of recreational Masters players from across Great Britain. It became a celebration of participation, competition, friendship, and the belief that basketball should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background, or ability.
FIMBA GB represented our international ambition — the growth of Great Britain as one of the world’s most successful Masters basketball programmes, competing on the global stage and proudly representing our nation against the best Masters players from around the world.
The organisation will continue to operate two complementary programmes:
Great Britain Masters Basketball Domestic – delivering competitions, tournaments, development opportunities and events throughout the United Kingdom.
Great Britain Masters Basketball International – selecting and supporting Great Britain representative teams competing at European and World Masters Championships.
That means continuing the tradition of our annual GB Masters tournament, which is at the heart of our history. As the largest Masters basketball event in the UK, it continues to bring players of all abilities together to compete, reconnect, and continue to play and celebrate the sport we love. As our programme has grown, so too has the range of international competitions available. While the FIMBA competitions will remain part of the Masters journey, they now sit alongside a wider range of international events where we proudly represent Great Britain and compete successfully, already bringing home 21 International medals. Our identify is therefore no longer defined by one tournament or competition, but it now represents every player and every opportunity that exists within Masters basketball.
Inclusion has always been central to Masters basketball and it remains one of the foundations for our future. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of basketball – whether through participation, competition, friendship or representing Great Britain internationally. Wheelchair basketball has been an integral part of the GB Masters tournament for the past 4 years and in 2025, we took another historic step by launching the world’s first ever International Wheelchair Masters team, which made it’s debut representing GB in an exhibition game at the at the European Championships in Athens. The team represented a landmark moment not only for GB, but for the wider international masters basketball community.
This achievement reflects our commitment to creating pathways for all players and ensuring that Masters basketball continues to be a sport where everyone has the opportunity to play, compete and belong.
Our new logo represents all of this and the evolution of GB Masters. It is clean, modern and unmistakably British.

- Encircling the crest are words “Masters Basketball”, representing the organisation that brings together players, officials and volunteers from across the country
- “The Game Never Stops” captures everything that GB Masters represents. Basketball is not something we leave behind, it continues to inspire us to compete, travel, build friendships and support the wider basketball community
This new badge honours the foundations created by both GB Masters Basketball and FIMBA GB, while confidently looking towards the future. Together we celebrate where we have come from, we recognise who we are today and we continue to build the future of Masters basketball in Great Britain with One Community, One Organisation, One Future.

This new identity enables us to strengthen our domestic competitions while continuing to build successful international programmes that proudly represent Great Britain across Europe and the world. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

When we began this journey, our vision was to create opportunities for players to continue enjoying competitive basketball throughout their lives. Seeing the organisation grow into a community of thousands of members is something we are immensely proud of.
This rebrand represents the natural next step. It creates an identity that belongs to every player, coach, official, volunteer and supporter who has helped us build Great Britain Masters Basketball. Together, we are creating a lasting legacy for the sport and opening doors for future generations of Masters players.
Although the name has changed, the organisation’s values remain unchanged: promoting lifelong participation, fostering inclusion, encouraging healthy and active lifestyles, and representing Great Britain with pride and professionalism on the international stage.
Looking ahead, Great Britain Masters Basketball has ambitious plans to expand its domestic calendar, strengthen international representation, develop new partnerships, increase participation across all age groups, and continue raising the profile of Masters basketball throughout the United Kingdom.
With more than 3,000 members, an expanding programme of events and a clear vision for the future, Great Britain Masters Basketball is entering an exciting new era.
One of the defining principles of Great Britain Masters Basketball is that Masters basketball is for everyone. We believe that representing Great Britain at Masters level is an honour, but it should never be confused with elite, full-time sport. Our players are teachers, NHS staff, emergency service personnel, military veterans, business owners, engineers, parents, grandparents, retirees and professionals from every walk of life. They train because they love the game, often fitting practices and competitions around work, family and other commitments. The athletes competing for Olympic and senior World Championship medals rightly occupy the elite end of our sport. Masters basketball is something different—and something equally valuable. It celebrates lifelong participation, healthy competition, friendship and the opportunity to continue playing the game at a high standard, whether at domestic tournaments or proudly representing Great Britain internationally. At Great Britain Masters Basketball, selection is a privilege, participation is celebrated and everyone who shares a passion for basketball has a place within our community.
